POSITION SUMMARY : The Environmental Technician is an entry level position that reports to the EHS Manager and assists with the administration of Aspire MRO’s environmental & hazardous waste procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the collection, identification and proper handling of hazardous waste materials.
- Packages and transport hazardous / universal waste materials around the facility with the forklift and other tools provided according to applicable environmental regulations.
- Performs routine audits to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and procedures.
- Package and label hazardous waste containers according to regulations.
- Manage waste storage areas for regulatory compliance.
- Visually inspecting and identifying hazardous waste materials on-site.
- Responding to hazardous waste spills or leaks by containing the spill and initiating cleanup procedures.
- Under the direct guidance from the EHS Manager, assist to ensure the site’s environmental regulatory compliance.
- Could require standing for long periods or walking long distances throughout facility on daily basis.
- May require the ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Act as backup for Safety Specialist when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
SCHEDULE :
1st shift. Approx start and end times are 7am until 3 : 30pm.40 hrs / wk with minimal OT, only as approved.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
1+ years’ experience performing the environmental / hazardous waste function in an aviation or manufacturing environment, OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.General knowledge of EPA, RCRA, TCEQ environmental regulations and experience with regulatory compliance is a plus.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Forklift certification / previous forklift experienceCPR / First Aid.HAZWOPERSUCCESS FACTORS / JOB COMPETENCIES :
Understanding of Repair Station Operations.Strong organizational skills and able to analyze information and utilize problem solving skills.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using standard English.Must be able to adhere to all established safety and environmental policies, processes, and procedures.Ability to work the second shift as the primary shift with flexibility to alternate occasionally.1st shift. Approx start and end times are 7am - 3 : 30pm.
