Associate Director of IT Security
The Associate Director of It Security is a critical hands-on leadership role reporting to the Director of Network Security at Raymond James Financial. This position requires a seasoned engineering leader who combines deep technical expertise with operational resilience, capable of architecting enterprise-scale security solutions while managing critical incidents. The ideal candidate thrives in high-pressure environments, maintains technical credibility with senior engineers, and can effectively lead diverse teams through both strategic initiatives and operational challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical leader who enjoys staying close to the technology while building and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
This position follows our hybrid workstyle policy : Expected to be in a Raymond James office location a minimum of 10-12 days a month.

Required Qualifications
Experience :
- 10+ years of hands-on engineering experience with at least 5 years in technical leadership roles
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams through both strategic initiatives and operational challenges
- Experience in financial services or other highly regulated, 24 / 7 environments strongly preferred
- History of successfully managing both planned projects and unplanned operational work
Technical Expertise :
Expert-level knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud security architecturesDeep understanding of modern security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC2)Extensive hands-on experience with :Enterprise firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Checkpoint)Container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates)CI / CD pipelines and DevSecOps practicesMicroservices architectures and service mesh technologiesAPI security and management platformsSIEM, SOAR, and XDR platformsNetwork security protocols and technologiesStrong coding abilities in at least two languages (Python, Go, Java, C#)Experience with security automation and orchestrationAbility to quickly diagnose complex technical issues under pressureRegulatory & Compliance :
