A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in Criminal Defense in Birmingham, Alabama. The firm is dedicated to providing comprehensive legal representation across the state, focusing on defending the rights of the accused with a client-centered approach.
Duties
- Represent clients in criminal defense cases, including misdemeanors and felonies.
- Prepare and argue motions, conduct legal research, and draft pleadings.
- Appear in court for arraignments, hearings, plea negotiations, and trials.
- Conduct client interviews and maintain clear communication throughout each case.
- Analyze case law, statutes, discovery, and evidence to develop defense strategies.
- Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors when beneficial for the client.
- Assist with jury selection, prepare witnesses, and conduct trial advocacy.
- Travel to courts across Alabama to represent clients as needed.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Active license to practice law in Alabama and in good standing with the Alabama State Bar.Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in criminal defense.Strong litigation, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage a demanding caseload independently.Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.Passionate about criminal defense and committed to protecting the rights of the accused.Willingness to travel statewide for court appearances, client meetings, and hearings.Education
