Job Summary and Qualifications
Maintain professional knowledge of medical genetics and counseling principles; stay updated on resources relevant to genetic counseling.
Responsibilities include :
Providing genetic counseling via in-person, telemedicine, or phone consultations.Explaining the genetic counseling process, eliciting patient expectations, and building rapport.Clarifying patient motivations, expectations, and risk perceptions.Guiding patients through understanding disease risks for themselves and their families.Supporting patients through genetic testing and result interpretation.Constructing pedigrees and assessing health history and genetic risks.Educating patients on family history, inheritance, and risk factors.Addressing psychosocial issues, including anxiety and decision-making.Providing accurate counseling on genetics, inheritance, and testing benefits / limitations.Documenting counseling sessions thoroughly.Collaborating with healthcare team members and referring patients to specialists as needed.Qualifications :
Bachelor's in biology, psychology, or related field; Master's in genetic counseling.Minimum 2 years' experience preferred.Board eligible or certified by ABGC or ACGC.Our hospital is dedicated to women's health, with a rich history and high standards of care.
