5 South Medical Unit

5 South Medical Unit consists of 33 head walls. All our rooms are shared with one negative pressure equipped room and two single rooms to accommodate patients that need private room. Our average census is between 29-32 patients. We monitor patients that need frequent safety checks through a video monitoring system. We have the capability of accepting patients needing telemetry. We believe in patient and family centered care; we coordinate patient care with multi-disciplinary team members. We are certified and skilled to perform peritoneal dialysis.

Scope of Work

Provide patient care assignments as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse. Manage supplies / equipment in designated care areas. Provide care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. Document in electronic medical record. Act as a receptionist and organize daily work assignments based on unit priorities. Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and complete all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Perform other duties as assigned.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3 : 30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of nursing assistant program and / or one year of nursing assistant experience.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
  • Current CNA certification preferred
