Position Title : Project Manager

Department : Special Projects

Salary Grade : NE8 Per the Class Code

Position Status : Part-Time

Status : Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Director or designee, the Project Manager will help assist in

managing a wide range of projects within the department. The Project Manager will assist in

monitoring schedules, ordering materials, monitoring budgets and assist in planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the project activities of assigned

projects.

  • Provides directions to project teams and / or group leaders to achieve project related activities.
  • Monitors project performance against budget, overall progress against schedule, identifies other
  • deviations from project plan and implements corrective action(s).

  • Provides for project and / or group personnel administration, assigns personnel for key project
  • positions and approves appointment of others.

  • Provides input to, and approval of project budgets and schedules.
  • Participates in division policy planning and development.
  • Attends progress meetings.
  • Reviews construction plans and specifications.
  • Completes progress reports as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Contributes to team effort.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledgeable of public and business administration principles.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of scheduling and coordinating schedules.
  • Knowledgeable in reviewing construction plans and specifications.
  • Skill in planning, scheduling, directing and reviewing projects or contracts in an effective manner.
  • Skilled at interpersonal communications.
  • Ability to act in an independent and conscientious manner using sound judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree is preferred but not required. Any combination of education from an accredited
  • college or university in a related field and / or direct work experience in this occupation for 2 years may

    substitute for the required educational experience.

    Physical Requirements and Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. If an item is above 40 pounds, lifting shall be done by two or more Tribal staff members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in a professional office environment with a moderate noise level, occasionally working under stressful conditions and for extended periods of time. This position is routinely exposed to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Travel may be required. May be required to work occasional nights and / or weekends. The employee is occasionally exposed to weather.
