Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Corporate and M&A

Role Summary :

We are seeking an experienced corporate and M&A lawyer to join the Practical Law Corporate and M&A team in the United States.

About the Role

As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in corporate and M&A law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
  • Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
  • Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters\' AI-powered legal solutions.
  • Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
  • Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.

Qualifications

You're a fit for the role if you are a Juris Doctor with a current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and have :

  • At least 8 years\' experience of working as a corporate and M&A lawyer in a law firm or in-house.
  • Extensive experience in :

  • Corporate law (entity formation and ongoing governance), with in-depth knowledge of the Delaware General Corporation Law, Delaware Limited Liability Company Act, and Delaware case law.
  • Mergers and acquisitions (public or private, though the ideal candidate will have at least some familiarity with public company M&A).
  • Some knowledge of the needs and priorities of corporate and M&A lawyers, including experience drafting and negotiating M&A agreements and other corporate forms and standard practice materials, as well as advising boards and senior management on related matters.
  • Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
  • A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
  • Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
  • Candidates selected for a second interview will be asked to take a writing test.

The base compensation range for eligible US locations is $116,900 - $217,100, with possible annual bonus based on performance. Base pay is within this range based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, and is part of a Total Reward program.
