Terrestrial Energy is developing for near-term commercial operation a zero-emissions cogeneration plant for a global industry using its proprietary Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) fission technology in an innovative, small and modular plant design. The Company is focused on building a team of professionals in engineering, R&D, product management and business development out of our Charlotte, NC location.
Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise on alloy mechanical and / or chemical behavior under high temperatures and irradiation doses, considering corrosive environments.
- Develop experimental designs and testing programs for alloy operating conditions, following ASTM standards and aligning with ASME BPVC Section III Div 5 rules.
- Perform test data analysis using MATLAB, Python, and other tools, applying statistical theories and following ASME / ASTM standards; develop and / or validate alloy behavior models.
- Interface with regulatory bodies as a subject matter expert.
- Author documents accompanying the alloy qualification process in coordination with Engineering, Safety, Quality, Licensing stakeholders and external parties.
- Oversee and / or execute materials qualification activities.

Master's degree (or higher) in Materials Science or Materials Engineering, or related fieldExperience leading research projects involving design, execution, and analysis of experiments on alloy properties and performance under various conditionsDemonstrated success in project delivery and execution of R&D activitiesFamiliarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III Div 5Knowledge of alloy property and performance characterization techniquesWorking knowledge of modeling tools (Python, MATLAB and others)Strong understanding of statistical analysis methodsStrong understanding of solid mechanics and damage modeling in alloysStrong problem identification and resolution skillsAbility to multitask and manage multiple projects concurrentlyExcellent interpersonal and written / verbal communication skillsAbility to develop and maintain relationships across all levels of the organization and with external customers and vendorsAssets
