Estate Planning Attorney

Job Overview :

A distinguished law firm based in Edina, MN, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented attorney to join its expanding estate planning division. This position involves managing a broad range of estate-related matters, including wealth preservation strategies, probate administration, and long-term legacy planning. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of four years of specialized experience, strong interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to client service and legal problem-solving.

Duties :

Draft comprehensive estate planning instruments, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney

Develop and implement strategies for gift and estate tax minimization

Represent clients in probate proceedings, including guardianship and conservatorship matters

Administer trusts and estates, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and fiduciary duties

Advise on charitable giving strategies and philanthropic planning

Support closely held and family-owned business succession planning

Collaborate with clients and financial advisors to create long-term wealth transfer solutions

Monitor legal developments and apply relevant updates to client matters

Requirements :

Minimum of 4 years of direct experience in estate planning and related legal matters

Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships with professionalism and discretion

Strong drafting, analytical, and legal research skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management capabilities

Education :

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications :

Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Minnesota

Skills :

In-depth understanding of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws

Proficiency in legal document drafting software and estate planning tools

Client-focused mindset with an emphasis on discretion and confidentiality

Strategic thinking with the ability to tailor plans to individual client needs

Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across practice groups
