Position Overview
Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Construction Associate to join a leading Am Law 200 firm in its Century City or Orange County office. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly regarded real estate team on sophisticated construction-related transactions and development matters.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements, including :Architect and design contracts
Engineering and consulting agreementsConstruction contracts and licensesEasements, development management, and project management agreementsCollaborate closely with clients, developers, project managers, and internal teamsProvide guidance on risk mitigation and legal compliance in development projectsSupport broader real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing as neededConduct title and survey review and general due diligenceContribute to team development through mentorship and collaborationQualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials3–4 years of relevant experience in construction and development transactionsFamiliarity with data center leasing is a plus, but not requiredExperience in a major law firm environment strongly preferredAdmission to the California BarStrong writing, analytical, and organizational skillsSelf-starter capable of managing significant individual responsibilities while working collaborativelyCompensation & Benefits
