Welcome to Edda Coffee Roasters (eddacoffee.com) - Cleveland's newest and most beautiful all-day cafe.
Operated by Harbor Bay Hospitality, Edda is located in INTRO Cleveland's exciting new mixed-use project, which features nearly 300 new apartments, an acre of green space, and a lavish top-floor event venue directly across the street from the historic West Side Market.
Edda is a light-filled, airy cafe with in-house roasted coffee and all-day healthy eats. Featuring comfortable seating, both indoors and on our large patio on 25th Street, Edda is the perfect place to hang, work for Cleveland's coffee enthusiasts. Visitors will feel inspired by Edda's rise-and-grind type of energy and environment from the moment they enter the door and feel excited to stay through the evening for a glass of wine with friends.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Caf GM with a keen focus on artisanal coffee to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of coffee culture, and the ability to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both customers and staff. As the Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cafe operations, including staff management, inventory control, customer service, and ensuring the highest quality of coffee products and offerings.
Essential Functions
Coffee Quality Control :
- Ensure the highest standard of coffee quality by sourcing premium beans, maintaining proper storage, and overseeing the coffee brewing process to guarantee consistency and excellence in every cup.
Staff Training and Development :
Train and mentor staff members in the art of coffee making, including brewing techniques, latte art, and coffee knowledge.Foster a culture of continuous learning and development to empower staff to deliver exceptional customer experiences.Create opportunities for staff to learn, develop products, and seek areas of ownership.Menu Development :
Collaborate with the roastery team to curate an innovative and diverse seasonal coffee menu that showcases specialty blends, single-origin coffees, and seasonal offerings.Stay updated on industry trends and emerging coffee varieties to keep the menu fresh and exciting.Work with kitchen staff to develop in-house pastry offerings and seasonal menu changes.Customer Service Excellence :
Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, ensuring that all guests receive prompt, friendly, and personalized attention.Address customer feedback and inquiries promptly, striving to exceed expectations and build customer loyalty.Operational Management :
Oversee day-to-day operations of the cafe, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, scheduling, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.Maintain CoGs standards for coffee, retail food and beverage, and cafe food.Perform purchasing as needed of dry goods and operational items in accordance with the expense budget.Implement efficient workflows and systems to optimize productivity and minimize waste.Inventory Management :
Manage inventory levels of coffee beans, supplies, and equipment to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing waste and controlling costs.Conduct regular inventory audits and work closely with suppliers to maintain a consistent supply chain.Conduct official monthly inventory via corporate financial software.Community Engagement :
Act as a brand ambassador for the cafe within the local community, participating in events, partnerships, and initiatives that promote the cafe's values and mission.Build relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to foster a sense of belonging and support.Work with marketing team to create new opportunities for revenue growth and awareness within the neighborhood and larger community.Requirements :
Proven experience in a managerial role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a specialty coffee environment.Extensive knowledge of coffee varieties, brewing methods, and latte art techniques.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a passion for sharing coffee knowledge and engaging with customers.Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required.A genuine passion for artisanal coffee and a commitment to delivering an outstanding coffee experience to every customer.Benefits :

Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred.Experience in service industryIn-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations.Ability to work well in a stressful and fast-paced environment.Excellent problem-solving and conflict management abilities.Outstanding communication and organizational skills.Basic math skills including working with budgeting, percentages, and variances are required.Maintains composure under pressure, remains calm and courteous in difficult situations.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Toast point of sale is desirable.Required to work nights, weekends, and / or holidays as business demands; ability to work flexible hours as required.ServSafe level 2 certification, preferredWork Environment :
Work is performed in a restaurant / event environment. This role requires frequent standing and walking during entire shift. Work environment is fast-paced and team member must be able to manage multiple priorities throughout a shift. Exposure to cold and heat may occur on regular basis throughout a shift (entering refrigeration equipment, multiple industrial / food service and exposure to cooking appliances).
