Responsibilities for Control System Engineer :
The successful candidate should be able to work independently, lead the HVAC controls design team, and collaborate with other team members with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include :
- Leading automation design teams and coordinating activities across disciplines
- Mentoring mechanical engineers and assisting with controls design training
- Designing and implementing front-end platforms for HVAC controls
- Developing and improving configuration, programming, networking, and diagnostic standards
- Programming and engineering control systems
- Modifying programming logic to meet operational sequences and procedures
- Designing control, monitoring, and system integration for HVAC / mechanical equipment
- Maintaining and deploying updated control system applications autonomously
- Working with advanced automation systems from major vendors
- Leading development and continuous improvement of standards
- Designing controls for large-scale systems like chilled water and condenser water plants
- Reviewing shop drawings, sequences of operations, and installation drawings
- Participating in design reviews focused on building automation
- Assisting with BAS network configuration, programming, and diagnostics
- Understanding IT / OT interface requirements including network hardware
- Implementing industry best practices in Critical Environment Programs
- Developing documentation and training materials
- Communicating regularly with stakeholders and project teams
- Developing project communication and reporting tools
Qualifications for Control System Engineer :
BA / BS in Engineering or relevant field (preferred)Licenses and certifications such as PE / EIT are a plusExperience in Data Center Engineering, Automation, and ControlsExperience integrating PLC / ALC systems in mission-critical facilities5+ years in BMS / BCM / BAS systems (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell)Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, blueprints, and CAD drawingsProgramming experience with PLC / ALCKnowledge of controls related to critical HVAC equipmentExperience with BAS protocols like BACnet and ModbusClient-facing experience and ability to serve as a primary contactIndependent worker, proactive, and well-organizedExcellent communication skills (oral and written)Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD / RevitStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsWillingness to travel up to 5%, primarily near NYC or LAEYP Mission Critical Facilities is now part of Ramboll , a global company founded in Denmark in 1945.
