# of OR Suites for C-Sections : 1 dedicated suite
# of Triage Beds : N / A
# of Postpartum Beds : Same 6 beds
Births per Year / Month : ~160 per year (12–17 per month)
Typical Staffing : 2 RNs per shift
Charge Nurse : Typically a St. Luke’s core nurse; house supervisor available
Support Staff : No nurse aides or surgical techs at this time (positions being filled)
OB / Neonatologist Coverage : OBs on call (not in-house; in clinic M–F, called in as needed)
Shared hospitalist with Med / Surg
Pediatrician on-site M–F days, on-call nights / weekends
Anesthesia : On-call after hours (30-min response time)

AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced
Common Diagnoses / Patient Types : Laboring and postpartum patients
Well baby and well mom care
High-risk and critical postpartum
Inductions, hypertensive crisis, hemorrhage protocol
No multiples (stabilize and transfer)
RN acts as newborn nurse in C-sections (does not circulate)
Couplet care for first few hours postpartum
Must-Have Experience : 2+ years LDRP experience (strong L&D considered with recent PP exposure)
Comfortable managing laboring patients autonomously (especially nights / weekends)
Newborn stabilization skills required
Drips : Titrated : Magnesium, Pitocin
Set Rate (Occasional) : Insulin (pre-transfer)
Tele / Monitoring : RNs read their own strips (no monitor techs)
EFM System : Centricity
Respiratory Equipment : PRN nasal cannula & nonrebreathers
Scheduling : Self-scheduling with core staff
Weekends & Holidays : Shared equitably with staff
Call / Standby : None
Floating : “Helping hands” or safety attendant only
No full-shift floating to other departments
Must be comfortable tasking safely
Orientation : 1 day facility orientation + Epic training
2 x 12-hour unit orientation shifts
