Tax Manager, Partnerships
Job Summary : As a Tax Manager, Partnerships, you will be responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and various partnership specific items including but not limited to section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations. In this role the Tax Manager, Partnerships will apply their knowledge and experience to understand potential partnership taxation issues and assist in the preparation of partnership specific computations. The Tax Manager, Partnerships is key to the leadership team of the STS Partnership Practice and actively participates in the development of the group. In addition, the Tax Manager, Partnerships is an active participant in process improvement and team-building initiatives, maintains client relationships, and acts as a source of guidance to other team members.

- Maintains and develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation
Research :
Identifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysisIdentifies complex issues to be researched by engagement team and provides research methodology for efficient research processTrains associates and senior associates on research skills and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysisInvolves firm specialists, as appropriateTax Consulting :
Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients' current and future taxesApplies the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business / industry to recommend solutionsMaximizes client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing riskImplements applicable Firm strategiesManages client expectationsTax Specialization :
Develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxationMay be required to participate in organizing and conducting, effective external CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists, at a minimum of once per yearTrains and mentors' associates, senior associates, and managersOther duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities :

Education :
Bachelor's degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferredMaster's in Accountancy or Taxation, preferredExperience :
Five (5) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and / or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting / professional services experience, requiredSpecialized partnership experience, requiredPrior supervisory experience, preferredPrivate equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferredLicense / Certifications :
CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") (or the equivalent of one of these designations), preferredPossession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role, preferredSoftware :
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferredExperience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software, preferredOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
