The Prevention Education Specialist will serve as a catalyst by raising awareness and providing information and education to families and communities in Indiana related to child abuse prevention and fatherhood engagement. In addition, this position will focus on building and enhancing relationships with outside groups across the state to support their education and training needs in order to create a more informed, prevention focused, safer place for children and families to live
Travel throughout Indiana is required
As the Prevention Education Specialist, you will :
Build and maintain a network of contacts and supportive resources throughout Indiana related to prevention and fatherhood engagement.
Stays knowledgeable of current research / evidence-based programs and strategies related to prevention and fatherhood engagement.
Report monthly to Director of PCAIN on trainings completed, community events and / or meetings attended and trends or needs that PCAIN should be aware of in the state.
Translate current trainings and current curriculum for train the trainers into Spanish
Review and update training / curriculum materials annually to ensure they are up to date with current information.
Provides statewide training, educational presentations and webinars in both English and Spanish.
Provide parent education directly to those in the role of father to enhance skill development and empowerment.
Be familiar with the work of local councils, including attending meetings, to provide support as needed, particularly with regard to supporting the education and training needs of the councils and the communities they support.
Required Position Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university
If Bachelor's degree is a BSW than licensure or ability to be licensed is required
Minimum of two (2) years of experience with child welfare and / or family services
Preferred Education and Experience :
Familiar with community agencies
Experience in the development of curriculum and teaching environment
