American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a critical access ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed unit, requiring a ND or compact state RN license and night shift availability.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a critical access hospital serving ER, MedSurg, and Swing Bed units25-bed rural facility with acute care patient populationPatient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, rehab / restorative care post-illness, IV medication administration, wounds, trauma, COVID, and chronic illness exacerbationsNurse-to-patient ratios up to 1 : 8 using team nursing, with nurse aides / CNAs on each shiftRNs required to titrate drips such as electrolytes, hypertensive medications, antibiotics, and blood transfusionsUse of Epic EMR systemRNs must read and interpret their own cardiac monitor strips12-hour night shifts (1845-0715), every other weekend required, and block scheduling may be possible upon requestFirst to float between ER and MedSurg supportNo on-call or standby requirementCPAP management only for respiratory equipmentResponsibilities involve comprehensive care for emergency, medical-surgical, and swing bed patientsTeam nursing model supported by charge nurse and CNA staffThree shifts of department-specific orientation providedScrubs required with no specific color; scrubs are not providedHoliday coverage required on an alternating basisApplicants must live at least 50 miles from the facility and may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facilityRTO of seven days or less must be requested up front per 13-week contract; additional time off will not be approvedCandidates who have not worked as a direct employee for CommonSpirit facilities in the last year are eligible\n \n Requirements\n
Active ND or compact RN license required at time of considerationValid BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required and must be current at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent RN experience, with at least 1 year in related settingExperience caring for geriatric and rehab populations, and skilled in dementia, stroke, and skin care for older adultsPrevious travel experience not requiredAbility to titrate and manage IV drips as describedEpic EMR experience preferredMust provide 2 references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from within the last 3 yearsMust submit a copy of their driver’s license\n Benefits\n
