The job involves estimating, designing, programming, and commissioning various industrial projects using both established legacy equipment and new, cutting-edge technology. Design includes knowledge of drafting software, applicable codes and standards, efficient design practices, and current devices. Programming will be accomplished with multiple PLC and HMI platforms, using primarily ladder logic, but may include any of the IEC standard programming languages. Commissioning includes supervising installation and troubleshooting of projects to ensure proper functionality and customer satisfaction.
The Integration Engineer position requires an excellent understanding of a project’s scope, goals, and underlying technical requirements. This along with balancing the client’s needs and expectations, the project budget and schedule, and the technical execution of the project to consistently achieve project success.
An Integration Engineer III is a senior-level position that demonstrates leadership abilities and extensive knowledge of the technology and practices related to our field. An IE III may be responsible for supervising other personnel to accomplish projects in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
The Integration Engineer III is responsible for the following :
- Design control systems through interpretation of customer-supplied control descriptions, interviews with clients and owners, analysis of system mechanical requirements, and any other means necessary to create a functional software design.
- Write structured, well-documented, bug-free PLC code in any of the 5 IEC standard languages (focus on ladder logic).
- Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing HMI interfaces.
- Work with other project team members as needed to successfully share programming responsibilities as required.
- Design software to support thorough, systematic, in-house testing prior to on-site commissioning.
- Thoroughly test system software prior to exposure to the client.
- Provide on-site system commissioning support as required. This support may require overtime or be on off-hours.
- Supervision of both CLX Engineering and vendor personnel.
- Maintain a current technical skillset through any means necessary including reading, attending seminars, formal classroom training, project experience, etc. Tangible demonstration of professional development is a requirement at annual reviews.
- Ability to instruct and guide CLX Engineering personnel in both new and legacy practices and devices.
- Occasional travel of approximately, but not limited to, 30%
