Job Summary

The RADI in the College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts (CARTA) is currently seeking a Rapid Prototyping Tech Student Associate to join their team of professionals.

Duties Include :

  • Assist in the RADI 3D Fabrication Lab with 3d printers, plotters and laser cutter
  • Assist RADI Fellows, staff, faculty, researchers in the lab
  • Keep inventory of supplies; monitor safe use of equipment and materials, including all other facility-related activities
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment
  • Lifting lab equipment may be required
  • At least 2 semesters of FIU work experience or related experience outside the University
  • Initiating projects appropriate to the job and seeing through to completion
  • Working with specialized software programs; troubleshooting hardware / software problems
  • Providing support to staff and faculty with the functional operations of the department with minimal supervision
  • Performing technical and complex tasks after initial instruction from supervisor

Desired Qualifications

Working knowledge of 3D printing ecosystem and 3D modeling skills. Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Who May Apply

  • Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
  • Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.

    Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of the department.
