Summary
The Manufacturing Supervisor I supervises and coordinates activities of production workers in an efficient manner to achieve optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The individual ensures that company policies and guidelines are accurately interpreted and implemented.
Responsibilities
- Initiates the manufacturing of products to meet deadlines and production goals.
- Supervises all production to meet EBIT goals and monthly budgets.
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
- Supports management with the Departmental Action Plans to achieve the Company's and Department's long-term goals and objectives.
- Assigns and schedules work to production employees in coordination with other supervisors and manufacturing engineering.
- Reports to management production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Recommends overtime when necessary to achieve production goals.
- Observes equipment usage and employee quality of work and takes corrective action when necessary.
- Reports preventive maintenance and procurement selection.
- Monitors tools and material management.
- Ensures proper specifications, blueprints, and job orders are communicated to workers and duties are assigned.
- Ensures that all manufacturing problems in the assigned shift are resolved.
- Recommends corrective actions and confirms full cycle of problem solving and prevention.
- Maintains high standards of performance, quality and customer service within all departments.
- Adheres to and implements company policies and guidelines as prescribed by management.
- Utilizes SPC, Real Time, and other tools within the system to manage factory quality.
- Maintains continuous training for job related functions.
- Interviews, evaluates, hires, trains, motivates, supervises, and disciplines all personnel under general supervision.
- Supports and implements company safety programs in the assigned shift.
- Performs personnel functions; coaches for improved performance, identifies / high-potential employees, conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and recommends compensation increases within company guidelines.
- Maintains knowledge of ISO policies, procedures, and directives.
- Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, Local, and State regulations and LISI policies within their area of responsibility.
- Attends training and adheres to HSE procedures, reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures.
- Identifies nonconformances and communicates them to management.
- Pursues opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives, measuring progress, and reporting results.
- Implements waste-elimination initiatives related to the function and department (e.g., EMS and recycling).

Education and / or Experience
Essential Job Requirements, Skills, and Abilities
B.S. Degree preferred in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.Minimum 2 years of Lead or Associate Supervisor experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Minimum 2-5 years of equivalent experience in manufacturing.Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; present information to groups.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret technical instructions.
Computer Skills
Advanced knowledge of department programs (e.g., SPC & Shop Floor System), Microsoft Word and Excel; working knowledge of Kronos timekeeping.
