Position Summary :
Were seeking a motivated Underground Transmission Engineer to join a national leader in Transmission & Distribution. In this role, youll collaborate on complex underground utility projects ranging from 2.4kV to 345kV, supporting the modernization of our nation's electrical grid. Youll be involved in the full EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project lifecyclefrom early routing analysis to final construction support. Key Responsibilities :
Support the design and execution of underground transmission and distribution projects alongside a team of 2 to 10 engineers and designers.Develop comprehensive construction packages including conduit / duct bank design, feeder and cable replacement, and manhole / equipment installation.Collaborate with construction, procurement, and permitting teams to drive project execution.Perform field inspections, measurements, and calculations for both underground and overhead utility systems.Utilize CAD, GIS, and simulation software to evaluate routing scenarios and inform design decisions.Analyze construction feasibility through conflict analysis, route studies, and cost estimates.Produce technical reports, visualizations, and data interpretations to support client communications and project decisions.Conduct QA / QC reviews of studies, designs, and reports to ensure compliance with internal standards.Assist with cable pulling calculations, voltage drop analyses, and pole loading specs.Prepare engineering proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.Participate in client meetings and correspondence, building and maintaining strong relationships.Contribute to business development efforts and attend industry conferences and internal marketing events.Provide mentorship and instruction to junior team members.Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.Masters degree may substitute for one year of experience.Minimum 3 years of underground utility design experience (5 years preferred).FE / EIT certification preferred.PE license a plus.Knowledge of underground construction methods and electrical systems.Strong skills in CADD, GIS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.Experience conducting underground field inspections.Understanding of power flow, NESC code, permitting, easements, and utility locating practices.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing deadlines.Why Join Us?
