Position Summary :
The Process & Applications Engineer plays a critical, hands-on role in the daily operation, improvement, and growth of Tedia’s high-purity solution manufacturing processes. This position is responsible for monitoring and optimizing batch and continuous operations, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, supporting quality and safety initiatives, and partnering with Process Development Manager for new product development and scale-up. The engineer will act as a key interface between production, quality, maintenance, and technical teams to ensure operational excellence.
Essential Duties :
- Champion Tedia’s Safety Culture by applying Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Program (RMP), and other hazard reduction best practices across all operations.
- Support Tedia’s Quality Culture by adhering to documented procedures, specifications, and continuous improvement practices.
- Monitor daily plant operations, identify process deviations, and lead troubleshooting efforts to ensure on-spec product and minimize downtime.
- Analyze, optimize, and document chemical purification processes, including distillation, solvent recovery, and material handling.
- Collaborate with automation / controls teams to interpret and enhance performance of DCS / PLC systems (Rockwell).
- Lead initiatives to remove process bottlenecks and increase throughput and capacity.
- Quantify and report cost savings or efficiency improvements driven by process enhancements.
- Partner with Process Development Manager to scale up new products and technologies from bench to production, ensuring smooth technology transfer.
- Utilize analytical instrumentation and methods to assess raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods.
- Maintain a strong floor presence (40–50% of time) to ensure real-time problem-solving and team engagement.
- Assist in resolving non-conformances, completing CAPAs, and supporting deviation investigations.
- Collaborate across departments including maintenance, QC, operations, and logistics to align goals and resolve issues.
- Engage directly with customers as needed on product development or technical troubleshooting.
- Support and as needed, deputize for the Production Manager on key initiatives
Success Criteria :
Maintain a 40–50% presence on the production floor to ensure real-time support, process awareness, and operator engagement.Utilize historian data and process trends to detect and correct sources of process driftBuild or refine process documentation (SOPs, trend groups, batch data sheets) to improve operator self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on engineering interventionParticipate in the development and delivery of operator training modules, ensuring process understanding and skill consistency across shifts.Maintain expertise on production processes, equipment, design, engineering and automation to facilitate 100% on-time completion of Production Coordinating group training plans.Develop and document continuous improvement of efficiency for chemical filling and chemical purification processes to achieve annual cost improvements >$50,000.

Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or other related field3+ Years as a production or process engineerStrong mechanical aptitude, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essentialPreferred Education and Experience :
