Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring a MO or compact license, EKG exam proficiency, and every other weekend availability.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Neuro ICU of a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma, teaching hospital
  • Care for patients with neurological diagnoses such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, neuromuscular disorders, seizures, CNS infections, neurotrauma, and patients requiring ICP monitoring
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2 in the Neuro ICU
  • Manage specialized procedures including vasoactive medications, central / arterial lines, ICP monitoring, CRRT, and temperature management
  • Required to float within service line or to affiliate units within scope
  • Every other weekend shift required
  • Day shifts (3x12 hours, 7 : 00 – 19 : 30)
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Uses specialized equipment including EVD and bolts for ICP monitoring
  • Responsibilities include managing complex neurological patients, administering vasoactive drugs, and monitoring ICP devices
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract; no RTO allowed during the first week of orientation
  • All standard travelers may stay up to 18 months and must take a 3-month break after 18 months
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Orientation includes completion of required modules and up to 10 hours of stroke education
  • Fit testing required; facial hair must allow proper mask seal
  • Parking passes are available for a fee; night shift parking at no charge in designated lots
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Neuro ICU RN experience required
  • Certifications required : ACLS, BLS (BCLS), NIHSS
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Preferred qualifications include TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education (can be partially completed during orientation)
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Must live outside a 75 mile radius from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • No previous permanent employment at BJC facilities in the past 12 months
