Completions Engineer
Fervo Energy is seeking a dedicated early to mid-career Completions Engineer to join our growing team, where you will play a critical role overseeing all aspects of water management to support our drilling & completions operations. You'll also have the opportunity to plan & execute well completion activities, including stimulation, site prep, drillout, and intervention.
This position requires a strong mix of technical expertise, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure a secure, efficient, and compliant water supply for our groundbreaking geothermal projects. As part of Fervo's mission-driven team, you'll play a key role in advancing the clean energy transition through innovation in geothermal resource development. This position will report to the Completions Manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of water sourcing, logistics, and supply for drilling & completions projects
- Plan and budget for water wells, interventions, and provide engineering support during execution
- Provide technical support to drilling & completions teams to ensure safe and effective operations
- Plan and lead completions activities when requested, including stimulation, drillout, site prep, and intervention
- Serve as the primary liaison with water suppliers, regulators, and vendors; negotiate contracts and manage procurement
- Lead the permitting process for water-related activities, ensuring compliance with all regulations
- Support water supply for crossflow testing and specialized field operations
- Contribute to maintaining the drilling & completions schedule with the project controls team
Required Qualification
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Petroleum, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or related fieldStrong technical background in water sourcing, supply, and transfer managementDemonstrated ability to manage complex projects and budgetsExperience with regulatory compliance and permittingStrong communication and negotiation skills for engaging internal teams & external stakeholdersAdaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environmentWillingness to travel up to 2530% to field locationsPreferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in water management, supply, and planning in the energy or heavy industrial sectors.Experience working with land, shale, or tight resource projects.Direct or indirect experience supporting drilling & completions teams.Location
Fervo Energy has offices in Houston, TX, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, Oakland, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at our Houston Office will be required.
