Maintenance Lead
This is a working supervisor position and exists to provide maintenance support to city parks and commercial building facilities. The Maintenance Lead will supervise and evaluate the work of Park Maintenance Workers I, II and III assigned to their work unit. Tasks require working independently and as part of a team, and must be able to follow prescribed instructions, procedures, and policies. The employee is also required to complete other tasks as assigned, especially as they relate to special events or city festival preparations. This employee reports to the Parks & Recreation Manager. Starting pay with no experience is $23.20 per hr Pay is based on your prior relevant experience. Experience credit is also given for honorable military service.
Supervises and evaluates the work of Park Maintenance Workers I, II, and III, conveys best practices to staff.
Performs maintenance on city park grounds, facilities, the city trail network, and city tree inventory.
Performs routine mechanical maintenance on city equipment.
Mows grass and applies chemicals to support turf grass and weed management.
Assists with irrigation system maintenance.
Performs snow removal on city properties.
Performs custodial duties at outdoor restrooms, dog parks, and grounds.
Other related duties, such as the preparation of city facilities for private rentals and public events.
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid driver's license, CDL preferred. Working knowledge of proper maintenance for motorized equipment. Familiarity operating zero-turn mowers, weed eaters, tractors, UTVs, chainsaws. Working knowledge of common hand tools and power tools. Ability to supervise departmental employees. The ability to follow and comprehend written and oral instructions. Must be able to apply safe working habits.
Additional consideration will be given to those with specialized training, certificates or licenses in one of the following areas : arborist, irrigation, pesticide application, electric, welding, turf / landscape management, small engine repair, building operator maintenance, or Class B CDL.
The majority of the work involves physical labor and exertion to manually move, lift, carry, or push heavy objects or equipment, possibly weighing 80 lbs. or more. Climbing in and out of ditches, bending, stooping, and / or shoveling as required; trimming trees, accessing light fixtures at heights, etc., frequently operates motorized equipment for extended periods of time. Regular and proper use of PPE is required.
