News Director & On Air Host – KTCH / KCTY, Wayne

KTCH / KCTY Radio has been a trusted voice in Wayne, Nebraska, for decades, serving our community with local news, sports, and great music. We’re looking for the next key member of our small but talented team — a News Director & On-Air Host, who can keep our listeners informed and entertained while building a future in radio station operations.

This is more than a job — it’s a chance to learn the inner workings of a respected small-market station, with the opportunity to eventually take on additional programming and leadership responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead our local news coverage — gather, write, and deliver local news for Wayne and surrounding communities.
  • Host on-air segments — beginning with mid-day or afternoon shifts, with the potential to transition into morning show duties.
  • Collaborate with our Program Director — assist with scheduling, promos, commercial production, and other programming needs.
  • Support station operations — learn traffic, automation, and other essential station systems.
  • Be a community presence — attend local events, cover breaking news, and represent KTCH at station functions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong verbal communication skills and a clear, engaging on-air delivery.
  • Solid writing and news judgment — experience in news, journalism, or radio a plus.
  • Comfortable with audio editing, recording, and automation systems (we’ll train the right person).
  • A community-minded professional who understands the importance of local radio.
  • Willingness to learn all aspects of small-market radio operations.
  • Dependable, flexible, and ready to pitch in where needed.
