Lecturer in the Teaching of Rhetoric and Writing – University of Florida, Gainesville
Join the University of Florida as a Lecturer (working title : Assistant Instructional Professor) in the University Writing Program. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure accruing appointment with the possibility of renewal and advancement on UF's lecturer track. Start date : August 16, 2026. The University Writing Program offers a wide range of writing-intensive courses, including first-year composition, themed critical thinking and writing, discipline-focused writing, and professional writing.
Responsibilities
- Teach a 3 / 3 teaching load (three courses per term).
- Contribute to the development and delivery of writing-intensive courses and programs.
- Engage in experiential learning opportunities (preferred), such as student exchanges, study abroad courses, or community-based outreach.
- Participate in program activities and service appropriate to a lecturer position.
Qualifications
PhD in Composition and Rhetoric or a related content area with teaching experience in composition.Rhetorical expertise and teaching experience in writing; professional experience considered.Preferred : interest in professional, community-based, discipline-specific communication; facility with AI and / or digital media.Salary and Benefits
