This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Provider Interoperability in the United States .

In this role, you will lead the development of scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that transform healthcare data exchange. You will architect robust platforms that enable seamless interoperability between patients, providers, and health systems, tackling complex technical challenges with a focus on reliability, performance, and innovation. Collaborating closely with product, analytics, and engineering teams, you will drive both immediate deliverables and long-term strategic initiatives. Mentorship and technical leadership are core to the role, as you guide engineering teams, champion best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will leverage modern technologies, data standards, and AI-driven approaches to deliver impactful solutions that elevate healthcare experiences and redefine industry norms. This position offers the opportunity to influence technical strategy while working on critical, high-impact projects that reach millions of users.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the design and development of large-scale APIs and microservices, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient data flows.
  • Drive technical strategy and roadmaps for interoperability, balancing short-term project delivery with long-term platform vision.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, establishing coding standards, automated workflows, and practices that improve team throughput and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify platform capabilities, launch new services, and integrate emerging technologies such as AI.
  • Implement and maintain observability, testing, and deployment practices to ensure platform performance and reliability.
  • Champion innovation, explore emerging data sources, and propose architectural strategies to maintain a leading edge in healthcare technology.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience building robust, high-performance backend services and APIs at scale.
  • Proven experience owning complex, user-facing platforms with both immediate deliverables and long-range strategic vision.
  • Strong technical leadership and mentorship skills to guide engineering teams toward best practices in coding, deployment, and observability.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR and HL7, and a willingness to challenge traditional interoperability patterns.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills, able to navigate complex integration challenges.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with modern backend technologies, cloud platforms, and scalable system design.
  • Benefits

  • Competitive base salary range : $180,005 – $270,000 USD, with eligibility for variable pay and / or equity.
