POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional marine and fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Permit & Compliance Coordinator to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.

The Permit & Compliance Coordinator ensures that all research activities involving protected species comply with relevant U.S. laws and regulatory frameworks (e.g., MMPA, ESA, IACUC). This position is responsible for preparing, submitting, and maintaining required research permits and documentation, supporting both scientific integrity and legal compliance.

RESPONSBILITIES :

  • Prepare, track, and maintain research permits (e.g., MMPA, ESA, NPS, USFWS, IACUC).
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and institutional requirements governing marine wildlife research.
  • Coordinate compliance documentation, such as field reports, sample tracking, and regulatory submissions.
  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ethical protocols for animal research.
  • Serve as liaison between PSD researchers and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and permit changes.

    • REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental policy, biology, or legal / compliance-related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with regulatory compliance or scientific permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with NOAA / NMFS permits, IACUC protocols, and protected species regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple timelines.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience preparing regulatory documentation
