Description :

This position is for a registered nurse in a pediatric intensive care unit.

The unit typically has 12 beds, with varying census based on the season.

The nurse-patient ratio is 1 : 2.

The facility treats common diagnoses such as trach / vent, DKA, respiratory issues, and surgical cases.

There is no cardiac care involved.

RNs will be required to titrate drips including propofol, fentanyl, and epinephrine.

Charge nurses are present on each shift but do not take patient assignments.

There are no nurse aids or patient care techs on this unit.

A pediatrician is available in-house during the day and may take call from home during night shifts.

RNs will need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment but do not have further responsibilities beyond that.

RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips.

Scheduling will allow for up to five shifts in a block if it meets unit needs.

Weekend requirements include five shifts in six weeks.

Holidays may require one shift during the contract period.

There is no call or standby requirement.

Floating is frequent to pediatrics, and there may be assignments for patient sitting.

The dress code permits any color scrubs.

This role requires adherence to a radius rule for candidates.
