We are seeking an experienced Electrical / Instrumentation & Controls Shop Drawing Submittal Reviewer / Electrical Project Administrator to join our team. This position requires 40 hours per week on-site in our Tempe, AZ office. (This position on-site and is not hybrid nor remote.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Submittal Review & Approval
- Review and interpret shop drawings, product data, installation manuals, samples, and other contractor submittals electrical and control systems, including power distribution, instrumentation, and SCADA systems for water / wastewater treatment facilities.
- Verify compliance with construction documents, technical specifications, and applicable standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ISA, UL).
- Identify discrepancies, omissions, or non-conforming materials and issue comments or rejections as appropriate.
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with project engineers, designers, and construction management teams to clarify design intent and resolve conflicts.Communicate submittal status and issues clearly project teams and on occasion to contractors and subcontractors.Participate in project coordination meetings and support resolution of field-related issues.Documentation & Tracking
Maintain accurate records of all submittals reviewed, including transmittals, comments, approvals, and resubmittals.Utilize project management and document control systems (e.g., Newforma, Procore, SharePoint) for tracking and communication.Provide technical input to RFIs, field changes, and construction bulletins as needed.Field Collaboration
Support field personnel in interpreting reviewed submittals during installation as and if necessary.Occasionally visit project sites to verify implementation of submittals or resolve onsite technical issues.Working Conditions :
Primarily office-based with occasional field visits to construction sites.May require occasional travel depending on project locations.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Requirements
Qualifications :
Education & Experience
Certificate or diploma from a community college or technical school in electrical technology, instrumentation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.3+ years of experience in construction submittal review for electrical and control systems, preferably in water / wastewater infrastructure projects.Technical Knowledge
Familiarity with electrical and control systems (e.g., switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation).Familiarity with water / wastewater process equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, chemical feed systems).Strong knowledge of construction specifications (CSI format), and municipal / public works project requirements.Understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ISA).Skills
Excellent analytical skills with a high attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficient in reading engineering drawings and technical submittals.Experience with review markup tools such as Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Acrobat, or similar.Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge of applicable environmental and building codes (EPA, OSHA, NEC, etc.).Previous experience on public utility or municipal infrastructure projects.Familiarity with SCADA / control system submittals.Certifications such as NICET, EIT, or PMP a plus.Benefits
