Meta is hiring : Sound Designer in Fremont

Overview Creative Audio is a centralized team that touches every product Meta produces. We collaborate with product and creative teams across Meta to design audio for video, post-production audio, final mixing and mastering, audio field recording, sound effects, and large-scale content projects across software and hardware, including mobile devices, glasses, and AR / VR experiences. We are a team of over 60 audio experts who design the experiences that connect people through sound. Meta is seeking an experienced Sound Designer to join our Metaverse work. As a Sound Designer, you must have a passion for sound and a demonstrated history of sound design for interactive and immersive experiences. You will be an instrumental part of day-to-day sound design across Meta audio experiences and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide creative feedback.

Responsibilities

Create world-class sound design for immersive experiences

Collaborate closely with all partners to determine scope of work, planning, and execution of sound design and implementation

Understand product voice to maintain quality and leverage existing content for consistency and efficiency

Contribute to the development of sound design systems by establishing audio design standards, guidelines, and best practices; serve as a go-to expert for all sound-related topics

Prepare and test for implementation accuracy; address bugs and optimize sounds in the product with internal and external team members

Operate in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment

Collaborate with other sound designers to ensure systems alignment across products

Influence key business decisions with data-driven insights

Create unique, memorable sonic experiences to maintain quality and leverage resources for consistency and efficiency

Communicate effectively with technical teams and software developers to ensure seamless sound implementation

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of experience creating sonic experiences for products in mobile, hardware, and immersive environments

Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD)

Experience creating original sound design for high-profile products or experiences

Experience with sound design synthesis and latest plugins

Proven communication and collaboration skills

Demonstrated music production experience

Proficiency with Pro Tools and / or other professional DAWs

Understanding of human-centered design

Experience managing, scoping, and communicating project milestones and deliverables

Experience testing implementation of sounds; troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines

Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking

Understanding of accessibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR, or other immersive mediums

Experience mixing in various formats, including spatial audio

Experience recording in a studio and on location

Post-production skills, including editing and mastering

Knowledge of acoustics, equipment setups, and calibration

Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)

Experience in designing audio for AR and VR experiences

Compensation and Location

Base pay range : $137,000.00 / yr - $191,000.00 / yr. Total compensation includes bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
