The Opportunity

The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Assistant Designer under close supervision performs basic functions requiring technical knowledge utilizing electronic applications, processes, standards, and document control processes / procedures for creating or modifying deliverables. Evaluates methods used to accomplish the drafting and / or design activities.

Job Summary

Under close supervision, provides technical support to engineering teams by performing tasks that require a basic understanding of engineering principles and practices. Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to assist in the creation, modification, and maintenance of technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Participates in the evaluation of methods used in the development of deliverables and design activities to support continuous improvement and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Continue to learn and apply standards, systems, document control, departmental guides and BV policies and procedures.
• Ensure deliverables are accurate and compliant by developing knowledge of the BV Quality Program.
• Demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Broaden knowledge of applications required to modify and develop less complex deliverables based on a variety of design inputs.
• May assist with minor computations such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
• May assist in coordinating deliverables with other groups on the same project to minimize interference or errors.
• Focus on the needs of internal clients while gaining basic understanding of external clients' main interests and drivers.
• Proactively seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
