This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sodium Fire Design and Analysis Engineer in Washington (USA).

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive engineer to oversee the technical integration, design, and fabrication processes for advanced sodium-cooled systems. In this role, you will support large-scale, first-of-a-kind nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with ASME standards while driving supplier performance and maintaining project quality, schedule, and cost. You will act as a key liaison between engineering, fabrication, and project management teams, coordinating design validation, issue resolution, and technical communication across organizations. This position offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of clean energy innovation within a highly collaborative and technically demanding environment.

Accountabilities :

  • Oversee supplier design-for-manufacturing assessments, material procurement, and fabrication activities for sodium-cooled systems and pressure vessels.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME BPVC Section III Div. 5 and Section VIII Div. 1 / 2 design and fabrication requirements.
  • Serve as a primary technical interface between engineering teams and fabrication suppliers to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Monitor project execution, ensuring milestones are met within budget and on schedule.
  • Identify and mitigate emerging risks, quality challenges, and technical barriers through proactive problem-solving.
  • Support design and project teams with regular technical coordination meetings and documentation updates.
  • Collaborate with project management to address scheduling, budget, and logistics challenges as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; a Master’s degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering or component fabrication, ideally in nuclear or high-performance industrial systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII and related design and inspection standards.
  • Experience with nuclear quality assurance frameworks (10 CFR 50, Appendix B) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage multi-disciplinary technical issues across diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to make informed, independent engineering decisions in complex, first-of-a-kind environments.
