Marine Enforcement Specialist

As a marine law enforcement professional, you will be responsible for conducting maritime-based operations to detect, prevent, and intercept illegal activities.

Your typical duties may include :

• Monitoring the behavior patterns and activities of suspects believed to be engaged in illicit activities.
• Interpreting radar data to determine the most appropriate intercept course while tracking vessels and individuals.
• Conducting searches of persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons incidental to detention or arrest.
• Collecting, analyzing, and refining strategic and tactical intelligence.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the requirements listed under qualifications. This includes possessing a qualifying Merchant Mariner Credential and meeting the age requirement specified by Public Law 100-238.

Citizenship : You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.

Residency : You must have had primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.

Age Requirement : In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection before reaching their 40th birthday.
