Primary Function
The Accountant (Mid-Level) is responsible for performing professional accounting work in accordance with established procedures and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information by preparing, maintaining, and reconciling financial transactions and reports. The incumbent serves as a key contributor to the monthly close process and supports audits, compliance requirements, and departmental projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate postings.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including account analysis and variance reporting.
- Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and documentation to support financial statements.
- Process and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related entries as needed.
- Support the preparation of internal management reports and external financial filings.
- Participate in internal and external audits by compiling required documentation.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementation.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues and provide financial guidance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting / ERP software.Ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Must be team-oriented with strong communication skills; able to collaborate effectively, demonstrate respect, and maintain professionalism in all interactions.Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.35 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.Experience with ERP / accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar; Deacom preferred if manufacturing).Prior experience supporting audits and preparing financial schedules.Preferred Qualifications
CPA certification or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.Familiarity with payroll processes and multi-state tax compliance.WORKING CONDITIONS :
Occasional weekend or overtime work.
