\nRegistered Nurse – Pediatric Hematology / Oncology / BMT - Travel - (Peds Hem / Onc / Bmt RN)\n

\nStartDate : 11 / 3 / 2025 \nAvailable Shifts : 12 D \nPay Rate : $1869.89 - $2060.69 \n

\no Beds : 24\n\n? 16 beds for Hematology / Oncology \n\n? 8 beds for Bone Marrow Transplant\n\n? Avg daily census : 22\n\n? All same staff but BMT is positive pressure environment\n\n? All RNs work interchangeably throughout 24 beds\n\no Required Experience : 2 years Peds with strong Onc / Hem / BMT experience\n\n? Nurses are acutely in the middle of tx, day 0, day 1 and during the sickest time – unless they are being intubated they are on this unit\n\n? \n\no Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes if they are a strong BMT RN\n\n? Patient Types / Common Diagnoses : \n\no Ages : Neonate (more rare) to adults (if patient had childhood cancer treatment here, they will come to unit, even as an adult)\n\no “On-Service” : Solid tumor cancers, Leukemia, Sickle cell, Aplastic anemia\n\n? Highly acute bone marrow transplant population – this experience and skillset is a MUST – will receive patients s / p day 0, day 1 and 2\n\n? If child does not require intubation, they will come to this unit\n\no “Off Service” : Can take off service (non-Hem / Onc) but must be without communicable infections / precautions due to the neutropenic patient population\n\no Behavioral Health : unit will also commonly see BH Peds patients – diagnoses to include but not limited to : Pediatric behavioral / adjustment disorders, Suicidal Ideation, elopement, human trafficking\n\n? Unit is equipped with cameras in care areas\n\n? Psych Tech as available – will round a couple of times per shift and is always available if patient escalates\n\n? Patient Ratios : \n\no RN : Same on both shifts – acuity dependent\n\n? Hem / Onc – 1 : 3\n\n? Observation / Off Service – 1 : 3-4\n\n? Bone Marrow Transplant – 1 : 1-2, based on acuity\n\no CNA : 1 : 12\n\n? Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and / or Insurance : \n\no BLS, PALS\n\no APHON provider card\n\n? APHON is just a certificate (like NIHSS) – CPHON and BMTCN are not required\n\n? Skills required : \n\no Required : \n\n? Port access experience is a MUST, Bone marrow transplant experience with Day 0-2 is a MUST, Chemo administration, Blood product transfusion, cardiac rhythm interpretation\n\n? Comfortability with blood cultures / central line care; PCA pumps, Heparin gtts\n\no Preferred : \n\n? End of Life care – Precedex gtt, Intransal Versed, Ketamine drips; chest tubes\n\n? Support within the Department : \n\no Charge RN / Supervisor – free floating\n\no Unit Educator - Days – will serve as additional resource if needed\n\no Task RN – 10am-1030p – will help with Admissions / Discharges / Tasks\n\no Security – until 9 : 30p\n\no HCTs – 1 : 12 ratio\n\no Cameras within unit\n\no Rounding Psych Tech as available – will round a couple of times per shift\n\no PICU consult team (all Ketamine drips, etc)\n\no APP (on site during day)\n\no Provider on call overnight\n\no IV / VAT team\n\no Phlebotomy – able to assist with morning labs / peripheral draws if needed\n\no RT, 24 / 7 in house\n\no Telemetry monitoring – bedside / nurses station monitoring – nurses are responsible\n\n? Technology / Equipment : \n\no EMR : EPIC\n\no IV Pumps : Alaris\n\no Med Dispensing : Omnicell\n\n? Floating : If yes, where?\n\no General Pediatric Medial units – will be based on skillset and needs\n\n? Ortho / Trauma, Gen Peds, Observation, ED Holds (admitted pts)\n\n? No floating to Main ER / PICU / NICU\n
