Description : Job Summary :

The General Laborer supports commercial construction projects by performing a variety of physical tasks to assist skilled tradespeople and ensure smooth daily site operations. Responsibilities include site preparation and cleanup, handling and transporting materials, operating tools, and assisting with the setup of temporary structures. This role requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and strict adherence to safety procedures.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Assist with tracking site materials and equipment usage as directed.
• Ensure compliance with all site safety protocols and company procedures.
• Site Preparation and Cleanup
• Clear debris, remove waste materials, and sweep or clean designated areas.
• Prepare construction sites by setting up barriers, signage, and temporary structures.
• Material Handling and Transport
• Load, unload, and move construction materials and equipment safely.
• Organize and distribute materials to appropriate areas on site.
• Operate a variety of hand tools (e.g., hammers, drills, saws) and power tools as needed.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Support to Skilled Tradespeople
• Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other trades by supplying tools, holding materials, and completing prep work.
• Follow directions from supervisors and team leaders to complete assigned tasks.
• Participate in demolition tasks, including dismantling structures, removing debris, and cleaning areas for new construction.
• Install and relocate temporary structures such as scaffolding, safety rails, and plastic barrier walls.

Requirements :

Required Skills / Abilities :

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least 2 years related experience required.

Physical Requirements :

The employee may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, lift, carry, pull, grasp, climb, crawl, crouch, sit or bend over for periods without relief. The employee must be able to lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds as needed. Employees in this position must be able to climb ladders and stairs to access platforms and scaffolds, as well as walk around indoor and outdoor job sites with distances up to one mile on uneven, paved, gravel, dirt, or sandy surfaces. Employees must be able to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, and landings. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
