Job Summary :
Performs intermediate level specialized work in code enforcement and compliance for the Village of Wellington (Village). Position is responsible for providing customer service by resolving complaints in connection with property maintenance, business tax receipts, public nuisances and land development codes related to the Village of Wellington's codes and ordinances.
Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree may be required in some areas; supplemented three (3) years of directly-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and / or experience.
Certifications and Licenses :
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License and the ability to drive a Village owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Must possess current Florida Association of Code Enforcement Fundamentals of Code Enforcement Certification (or have the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire or placement in the position), and maintain active certification status
Must possess current Florida Association of Code Enforcement Officer Safety and Field Applications (or have the ability to obtain within 2 years of hire or placement in the position), and maintain active certification status
Must obtain Parking Enforcement certification from Palm Beach Sheriff's Office (PBSO) within 1 year of hire or placement in the position, and maintain active certification status Regular attendance at work on-site is essential to maintain the necessary teamwork, personal interaction, and supervision that this position requires. Responds to emergency call-ins for hurricanes or other critical events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of technical code enforcement and compliance
Knowledge of rental inspections and compliance
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable department and organization specific software and ability to learn and become proficient in the use of other specialized software as may be required
Skill in setting priorities that move projects through efficiently to achieve customer and quality objectives
Skill in providing good customer service that promotes positive public relations
Skill in basic math including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometric construction, practical algebra and metrics
Ability to multi-task while working with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files in numerical, alphabetical, or chronological sequence
Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) with residents, coworkers, supervisors, administration, and vendors
Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing
Ability to communicate during emergency situations effectively, promptly, and accurately or to avoid hazards
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
Physical Requirements :
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort usually involving some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking or standing. Tasks may require extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Environmental Requirements :
Tasks are regularly performed inside and / or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and / or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery and / or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals / wildlife, toxic / poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and / or disease, or pathogenic substances.
Sensory Requirements :
Tasks require sound and visual perception and discrimination. Tasks require oral communications ability. Must have manual dexterity and be able to perform repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, or fingers. Must be able to perceive color and depth. Tasks involve prolonged eye use and / or fine visual ability; computer work, reading text, visual inspections, or measurement devices. Must be able to follow visual cues or signals.
