Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

The Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical is essential in providing high-quality nursing care to patients in medical-surgical and emergency settings, including psychiatric emergencies. This role involves a variety of responsibilities including patient assessment, care planning, supervision, and education for patients and families, all while ensuring adherence to hospital policies.\n\nAt our organization, each employee embodies our Vision and supports our Mission while living our Values of integrity, patient-centered approach, respect, accountability, and compassion.\n\nAs part of the healthcare team, the RN will report to the PCS Manager / Clinical Coordinator and will be responsible for delivering exceptional clinical care and customer service. Key responsibilities include : \n

• Assessing patients' physical and psychosocial conditions continuously throughout their care journey.\n
• Creating, communicating, and documenting individualized care plans, adapting interventions based on patient involvement, family input, and teamwork.\n
• Implementing and coordinating the plan of care collaboratively with fellow healthcare professionals.\n
• Evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan and making necessary revisions prior to discharge.\n
• Planning educational sessions tailored to the unique learning needs of patients and their families, while documenting outcomes effectively.\n
• Functioning in various roles including psychiatric emergency nurse, triage nurse, charge nurse, and preceptor as authorized.\n
• Meeting performance standards in customer service, teamwork, resource management, and personal development set forth in performance reviews.\n
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as directed to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.\n
• Maintaining competency in clinical skills and responding appropriately in emergency situations.\n\nQualifications : \n\nEducation : Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Proficiency in computer software for electronic patient records and literature searches is required.\n\nExperience : Previous experience in Emergency Department preferred.\n\nLicensure : Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license.\n\nSpecial Skills : Current BLS certification required upon hire, along with ACLS and PALS within 6 months.
