Position Information
Basic Function
The Senior Scholarship Coordinator assists the Associate Director (Financial Aid Manager of Scholarships) with managing the day-to-day operations for financial aid related to scholarships. This is inclusive of internal / institutional scholarships and donor funded scholarships. The position assists in training personnel in federal and institutional financial aid practices. This position assists with ensuring that the Office of Financial Aid is in compliance, adhering to federal, state, university rules and regulations; and assists with awarding funds in a timely manner, thus assisting institution and schools with meeting enrollment goals.
The ideal candidate has experience in awarding and administering scholarships (and scholarships programs including reporting), Federal Student Aid, in particular the strategic leveraging of institutional aid. S / he must have a student-centered approach and will work with a team where student service is imperative for departmental success.
Other duties as assigned by the Associate and Director of Scholarships, Financial Aid Director, or the Office of Financial Aid members of the management team.
Supervisory Accountability
Will serve as lead (and quasi-supervisor) of other Office of Financial Aid personnel and student employees assigned to the Scholarship Division within the Office of Financial Aid.
Nature and Scope
Internal contacts include students, faculty, and staff. External contacts include prospective students, student advocates, representatives of government agencies, lending institutions, guarantee agencies, community organizations, legislative representatives, and the public.
Principal Accountabilities
Core Functions
Human Resources Management and Training : The position will supervise assigned staff at the discretion of the Associate Director for Scholarships. Will serve as team lead in the absence of the Associate Director. Will keep abreast of Title IV Regulations and institutional policies and procedures and ensure that staff is properly trained and provided direction. Will also keep abreast of best industry practices and trends of scholarship administration.
Data Management : This position is responsible for reconciling funds in the Banner system (Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)] in addition to Blackbaud and KwikTag. Fund accounting is reconciled between federal, institutional accounts, etc. in conjunction with the COD system. Additionally, this position is responsible for reconciling other accounts as assigned. This position will support the Office of Development by providing donor requirement reports of awardees from certain donor accounts as needed.
Administrative Functions : This position will award financial aid as assigned by the Associate Director for Scholarships. This may include being responsible specific scope scholarship administration, ensuring that the needs of the students, faculty and staff are met in a timely manner. Reporting (analysis, responses) may be required, per the Associate Director, Financial Aid Director, or members of the management team.
Customer Service / Outreach / Engagement : This position will work with the Associate Director of Scholarships, campus partners, faculty, and staff to ensure that optimal customer service is provided. The position will assist in developing metrics to establish benchmarks and outcomes. Will assist the Associate Director with assessing financial aid information (web, social media, etc.) and determining areas of improvement. Will also develop marketing literature to promote awareness of scholarship opportunities for students, and scholarships for specific majors. Will assist with outreach and engagement including the attendance of staff at events sponsored the Office of Financial Aid or other entities.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and at least five years of experience in financial aid (or a related area), with increasingly degrees of difficulty and demonstrated competencies. Knowledge of financial aid programs and regulations. Knowledge of scholarship administration (e.g., merit, need-based, leveraging). Highly effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills as well as computer proficiency. Demonstrated understanding of the general operation of the financial aid office in an enrollment management setting. Ability to travel and work evenings and other times as deemed necessary for overall operations of the Financial Aid office. Ability to work effectively under stressful situations and still maintain a cordial, positive and professional demeanor. Collaborative and student / customer oriented. Proactive, with strong problem-solving skills. Leadership and organizational skills. Ability to train and supervise clerical staff and student workers. Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated commitment to equal opportunity and diversity / multicultural issues.
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
Expected Salary Range : $70,000 - $80,000
