Overview
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical planning, designing, engineering and construction document production and project estimates. Additional duties include energy analysis, lighting analysis, cost / benefit analysis, electrical systems design, existing system condition assessment, and emergency / standby generation design. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge and experience with building codes, regulations and requirements, building materials, construction methods, and procedures to all projects.
- Manage the proper sequencing of construction documents and oversee multiple, simultaneous projects from design basis through specifications and submittals.
- Work in a team / collaborative setting, make sound decisions and drive action cross-functionally.
- Organize and prioritize personal workload in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
- Make independent decisions with general guidelines and demonstrate strong planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Work with modest supervision and maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with clients, partners and team members.
- Function effectively in a demanding environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and make presentations to clients.
- Apply experience in higher education, office and / or light manufacturing environments; interest and experience in lighting design techniques is desirable.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure quality facility design, energy efficiency, and compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum five years of experience in facility design, with experience in power distribution, lighting design, communication systems and data centers, lighting photometric calculations, and existing building assessments / reports.Professional license is preferred.Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), AutoCAD, and specialized electrical engineering software (e.g. Easy Power).Ability to work in office settings and in the field; occasional travel may be required.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with clients, partners and team members.Additional Details
Work is performed in an office setting and in the field; job site monitoring may occur in various weather conditions. Occasional travel may be required and may occur outside normal office hours depending on workload, schedules and client location. Physical requirements and environmental adaptability include moving around construction sites in various stages of development. The position may involve evening or weekend work as needed.
