General Accountant - Summertown Metals Contracting

Position Summary We are seeking a General Accountant to oversee all financial operations for Summertown Metals Contracting’s turnkey homebuilding division. This position will manage the full accounting cycle independently and providing leadership with clear financial insights. This individual will be responsible for daily accounting operations, preparing accurate financial reports, monitoring project budgets, and executing bank draws at key project milestones at the Hopkinsville location. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting skills with the ability to support project-based financial planning in a growing construction environment. Essential Functions Manage full-cycle accounting for the turnkey homes division at the Hopkinsville location Maintain records of financial transactions by posting and verifying Reconcile accounts and maintain a balanced general ledger Follow up with PMs on draws being kept current Communicates with different STMC team members on the status of collections in order to discontinue / continue construction jobs Track and report on project budgets, costs, and variances Execute and document bank draws and trade draws tied to construction milestones Review and process client invoice payments; follow up on overdue invoices Deposit checks and manage daily banking transactions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements Assist in financial planning, forecasting, and budget preparation Advise leadership on compliance needs and financial health of projects Other duties as assigned Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3+ years of professional accounting experience (construction / project-based preferred) Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices Experience with job costing and project accounting Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting / ERP software Strong understanding of banking processes, including draws and loan compliance Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities Schedule & Compensation Full-time, in-office role in Hopkinsville, KY Typical schedule : Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM Salary range : $55,000 – $65,000, based on experience Benefits Employer-sponsored health insurance Dental and vision insurance Simple IRA with company match (up to 3%) PTO and paid holidays Clothing allowance Career growth opportunities within the Summertown Metals family of companies
