National Grid is hiring a Senior System Operator for our Transmission Control Center Department in Liverpool, NY.

The National Grid Transmission Control Center is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, and control of all our transmission assets ( 115 kV) across Upstate New York through a 24x7 facility. Our department interacts extensively with field operations, the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), various engineering groups, and other utilities in the state to ensure reliability to our customers and our system.

Job Purpose

The Senior System Operator's primary purpose is to support the operation of the New York transmission system in a safe, secure, reliable, and efficient manner in accordance with all FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, and National Grid requirements, standards, and procedures. As a shift position, all employees must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts to enable 24x7 coverage.

As part of the interview process, candidates must pass an aptitude test. For 6 months employees will go through an in-depth training curriculum to receive necessary qualifications and gain various skills required for this role. Part of this training program may consist of :

• Obtaining a NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification
• Obtaining Clearance and Control authorization
• Spending time with National Grid Field Operations
• On-the-job training
