Brighter Beginnings is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and has been responding to the needs of families in resource-poor neighborhoods since 1984 when our work began in response to the alarming differences in mortality and illness rates among African American babies compared to other children.

Brighter Beginnings has grown into a respected and well-connected organization with locations in Oakland, Richmond, Bay Point, and Antioch. We have a multi-cultural, bi-lingual staff of passionate and committed family service professionals; in fact, many of our staff came to this work because of the challenges they faced in their own families.

Position Summary :

We are searching for a part-time Dental Hygienist to work two days a week, one day at each of our two community health clinic sites (in Richmond and Antioch). The Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing hands-on support for patient oral care. They engage in preventative oral care through screening, treating, and educating patients.

Qualifications :

• Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Registered Dental Hygienist RDHAP License Required.
• Bilingual (English- Spanish) is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 1 to 3 years in a dental office setting.
• Valid BLS and CPR certification.
• Proficient in taking digital x-rays.
• Skilled in Electronic Health Record patient filing records used for billing, visit scheduling and data entry, and in Microsoft Office, data entry and use of business email.
• Experience and understanding billing process and guidlines for private and public health insurance programs, especially CCHP, Medicare and Medi-Cal.
• Ability to gain proficiency on additional computer programs required to perform the job.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and English grammar with ability to understand and complete oral and written instruction.
• Ability to work as a team by communicating, collaborating and cooperating with team members.
• Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
• May be required to work at an alternative site.

This job requires the passing of a background check, a negative TB test or clear chest x-ray (less than 1 year old), Physical Exam (less than 6 months old), provide updated vaccination records, Hepatitis B vaccination, annual flu vaccination, Covid Vaccine and boosters, and maintain a current BLS card. Physical examination must indicate that the employee can meet the job's physical requirements including : Lifting, Walking, Stooping, Bending, and Twisting.
