Must-Have : Experience with Bipap, Cpap, Heated High Flow, Oxygen titration, Moderate Sedation, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical patient care.

Description :

The unit provides a mix of medical-surgical and progressive care experiences for registered nurses.

The diverse patient population includes those with pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, COVID-19, and pulmonary embolism.

Registered nurses will develop foundational critical care skills related to mechanical ventilation.

Responsibilities include oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, monitoring during bronchoscopies, chest tube management, and postoperative care.

The nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 3 for acute progressive care and 1 : 4 / 5 during day shifts and 1 : 5 / 6 during night shifts.

A supportive team culture encourages nurses to advocate for safe patient care and to enhance critical thinking and time management skills.

Registered nurses engage in committees focused on patient experience, performance improvement, and clinical reasoning.

The focus is on delivering quality care while gaining clinical experience beneficial for transitions to higher respiratory care.
