Senior Tax Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team with a focus on sales and use tax compliance on the customer side and supporting accounting process improvements. This role will be responsible for managing reconciliation-heavy workflows, optimizing month-end close activities, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in both tax compliance and corporate accounting functions.

Responsibilities :

• Oversee sales and use tax processes related to customer transactions, including exemption certificates, compliance, and reporting.

Research and resolve customer sales / use tax questions and discrepancies in a timely manner.

Support month-end and year-end close by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules.

Identify opportunities to streamline reconciliation processes and enhance the efficiency of the close cycle.

Assist with internal controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting functions.

Partner with operations, customer service, and finance teams to resolve issues related to billing, tax, and reporting.

Participate in accounting projects focused on system optimization, process improvement, and automation.

Provide support for internal and external audit requests, preparing documentation as needed.

Contribute to ad hoc analyses, projects, and initiatives led by the Controller or Accounting Manager.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to sales / use tax compliance.

Strong reconciliation skills and experience with high-volume transaction environments.

Proficiency in ERP / accounting systems; exposure to Avalara or similar tax software is a plus.

Solid understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
