Position Overview
Primary Function :
To assist with the assessment, evaluation, and management of patients who present for health care at UHS.
This position receives general supervision. Broad instructions are provided, and the staff member uses judgment and experience to carry out assignments. Completed assignments and finished products are reviewed by the supervisor after completion.
Position Appointment Details :
10 months at 75 hours / week
Position Description
Typical Duties & Responsibilities :
Judgment Required : Independent judgment
Machines & Equipment Used : Vital sign equipment, nebulizer, ear lavage equipment, Injection / Venipuncture / phlebotomy equipment, autoclave / sterilization
Personal Interaction / Communications : Student Contact : Daily : One-to-one contact with patients, taking messages, scheduling appointments, answering questions, providing information, collaborating with providers in patient care
Internal : (Operations Committee, Faculty, Administrative department heads)
Daily : taking messages, scheduling, communicating with the UHS team about patients' confidential medical information, appointments, answering questions, assisting with exams and procedures.
External : (Visitors, parents, other institutions or companies, suppliers)
Daily : taking messages, scheduling appointments, answering questions, providing information, interacting with staff, students, and parents
Attributes of a Successful Candidate
Education : Medical Assistant
Experience :
Licenses / Certifications : CMA
Supplemental Information
Confidential Information : Student records and other information, such as student health records or employee information
Working Environment : Medical office environment; in contact with cleaning chemicals, medications, and bio-hazardous materials daily
