Overview
WGS Systems, LLC, is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer that will develop and support communications and electronics for the United States government, commercial, and international customers. Candidates are expected to have the equivalent of 5-8+ years of related work experience.
Qualified candidates must be capable of supporting requirements development, design, modeling, analysis, integration, verification and validation of components, assemblies and complete systems. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding in the use of industry standard software tools supporting drafting, design and analysis functions.
Responsibilities
- Support mechanical and related designs for product development
- Supporting system design and integration into airborne, ground, mobile and fixed-site applications
- Conduct and / or review analysis of systems to include thermal, shock, vibration and other related disciplines
- Supporting system integration and test activities, particularly product qualification test planning and execution
- Designing hardware and generating parts drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials
- Support field testing and field engineering support to include potential foreign travel
- Other technical duties outside the ME field to include areas like systems and software engineering based on the candidate's interest and skill
- Weight and balance and other similar studies
Qualifications
BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree5-8+ years of work experience.United States of America citizenshipAbility to acquire a U.S. Department of Defense security clearanceDemonstrable written and verbal communications skillsUse of engineering tools such as CAD and FEA software toolsAbility to work independently and in small groupsAbility to travel to remote locations, including potential short-term work in austere of hazardous environmentsPreferred Requirements Include
Experience in one or more of the following technical areas :Airborne structures or system integration including mounting and cooling
Experience with product qualification and ESS testing as substantiated by DO-160 standards.Mass properties and geometric analysisThermal analysis and modelingMechanical tolerance analysisVibration analysis, structural analysis, performance simulation and modelingPlanning and coordinating hardware development, fabrication, assembly and testingCoordinating product designs and testing with customers and / or subcontractorsDeveloping technical SDRL / CDRL productsHigher level understanding of electrical and / or RF engineering fundamentalsExperience working DoD or USG contractsFormer military experience in intelligence, communications, aviation, repair or combat arms fields OR experience with mission engineeringAbility / interest to work within other technical areas to include systems and software engineeringProgramming and / or scripting skillsDrone piloting certification, drone engineering or production experienceWork environment
Work will be performed in an office environment, in aircraft hangars, and on-board aircraftWork is onsite, occasional teleworking accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basisMay include flight tests on government or customer owned and operated aircraftMost of the work will be performed in Frederick, Maryland, with occasional work in other locations based on project assignments.Travel expectation 20% or lessCompensation
