Department Coordinator

The University of Louisville Biology Department is hiring a Department Coordinator who will serve as the primary office manager for one of the largest, most dynamic departments in the college. The job requires attention to detail, expert organizational and communication skills, computer and software skills, some knowledge of academic programs and functions, and ability to work in a diverse team. The person in this position works in-person in the office and regularly interacts with faculty, staff, and students. The ideal candidate will be student-centered, and willing to offer administrative, technical, and procedural support to department members and students, and implement new processes for increased efficiency.

We teach hundreds of classes, conduct externally-funded research in three different buildings and attend to the success of our students. Staff are an important part of our welcoming department community.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Prior administrative experience in higher education
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with data input and visualization and database use
  • Demonstrated proficiency using the following software : Excel, Word, E-mail, cloud storage systems, PowerPoint, Adobe, polling, online video conference programs like Zoom or Teams, and other common programs
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Target Compensation Maximum : $27.85

Target Compensation Minimum : $18.56

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
