📍 Lawrence, KS | Full-time | On-site (Relocation Required)

We’re partnering with a leading biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing transformative small-molecule therapies that target the underlying biology of cancer. They are seeking a highly experienced scientific leader to join their oncology discovery team as Director, Biological Sciences .

This is a unique opportunity to take a hands-on leadership role within a collaborative, innovation-driven environment , where science and purpose go hand in hand. The successful candidate will lead discovery programs from validation through candidate nomination, driving meaningful progress in the development of next-generation oncology therapeutics.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead oncology research programs from target validation through candidate nomination
  • Design and execute molecular and cellular assays to assess therapeutic potential
  • Analyze complex data, troubleshoot challenges, and drive strategic project decisions
  • Oversee in vivo pharmacology studies with internal and external collaborators
  • Identify and validate novel drug targets and develop translational biomarkers
  • Partner with senior leadership to define project strategies and milestones
  • Mentor and develop a team of scientists, fostering excellence and collaboration
  • Communicate findings through presentations and reports to internal stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

  • PhD in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience in oncology drug discovery within pharma or biotech (Applicants with less experience will not be considered)
  • Demonstrated success leading discovery programs from early research to IND-enabling stages
  • Strong expertise in molecular and cellular biology , with a solid understanding of tumor biology
  • Proven leadership and team management skills in a matrixed R&D environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration abilities
  • Relocation to Lawrence, KS required (relocation assistance available)
